Daughter Of Newtown Victim Confronts GOP Senator Who Voted Against Gun Control

Daughter of Newtown Victim Confronts Sen. Kelly Ayotte on Background Checks

Erica Lafferty, the daughter of Sandy Hook Elementary School principal Dawn Hochsprung, confronted Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) for voting against expanding background checks on all firearms sales at a town hall meeting on Tuesday.

“You had mentioned that day the burden on owners of gun stores that the expanded background checks would cause,” Erica Lafferty said during the town hall. “I am just wondering why the burden of my mother being gunned down in the halls of her elementary school isn’t more important than that.”

Ms. Lafferty, I am deeply sorry for your loss. It is a tragedy that no-one should ever have to go through but NOTHING in that bill would have prevented Adam Lanza from STEALING his mothers LEGAL guns and killing innocent people. So why then, are you trying to lay your "burden" at the feet of every law abiding American by taking away their rights?

Not a single person who has ever killed someone in anything other than self-defense or an accident is law abiding. That means they don't obey the laws. You want these background checks and you want everyones gun taken away. How pathetic of you to use your mother's death for such a thing.

Let's say you had your precious way. The only way to have stopped Adam would have been to do an extended background check on people in his mother's family. That is a very slippery slope because tell me...how many people out there don't have at least one person in their family who isn't a bit "off?"

But now we have to pay for the "maybe" actions of someone else? Has anyone in your family ever driven drunk, Ms. Lafferty? If so, we are going to have to take your car because they MIGHT get your keys sometime and go kill innocents with it. How about a neighbor? They live close enough to get the keys to your car and do the same thing. What? Not fair? Neither is holding us responsible for your mother's death. WE didn't do it. ONE person did. And no law in the world would have stopped him.

Do not bring your burden and lay it on my shoulders. I don't want it and I am tired of people like you that wish to take away from me my God given rights. You have just lost ALL of my respect. And you are a big part of the problem we have in this country. Because ONE bad person does a bad thing, you feel as though you have to punish everyone. Get your head on straight and out of 0bama's ass. It will do you a world of good.
